About LED Downlights

Also known as can lights and pot lights- LED Downlights are those small light fixtures that are recessed in the ceiling in such a way that they emit light in the downward direction. You can have recessed downlight installed in a lot of places where you wish to achieve general coverage of light. The most popular applications for these LED lights are bathrooms, kitchens, hallways, living areas, and the study.

Since dimmable LED downlights do not consume a lot of roof space, recessed spotlights are also used in offices to have an enhanced look of ambient lighting throughout. Moreover, a high CRI (color rendering index- one that helps perceive colors as they actually are) of 90+ ensures customers at clothing stores buy the exact color as they see. Such great CRI also makes these lights suitable for accent lighting, general lighting, and task lighting.

Downlight fixtures with at least IP44 ratings are required for areas that are near water, such as in the bathroom, shower rooms in the indoors, and in the outdoors in case you install them near the swimming pool.

They are installed at heights where the ceiling height is relatively much lower than average ceiling height. These lights do not emit any kind of UV and IR free light rays that otherwise are harmful especially when exposed for a more extended period of time

Different Types of Downlights Available

Based on design, you can either choose square-shaped or round-shaped Recessed Lighting Square LED Ceiling Downlight. Also, there are multiple trim-options for LED downlights available with us.

Baffle-trim Design LED Downlight: Because of its anti-glare quality, round downlights with baffle-trimming on the edges are widely popular. The concentric ridges of the baffle trimming help reduce glare that may come out of these lights.

Dimmable LED Eyeball Downlights: As the name suggests, this trim-type allows the beam-angle to be adjusted so you can let the focus lay where it is required the most. This trim-design is preferred more so for accent or wall-wash lighting needs.

Disk LED Downlight: This is a slim & sleek alternative for spaces that do not allow bulkiness in the form of lighting. LED disk downlights are widely used in the hospitality business for the elegant finish they provide.

LED Downlights come in wattage range of 9 to 40 watts.

Depending upon the size, there are four different downlights available

  • Four-inch which fits a four-inch trim
  • 5 inch and 6 inch
  • 8 inch
  • 10 inch

Other Features of LED Downlights

Mostly LED Downlights come with a dimmable feature; that is, you can dim the light brightness to a lower level when high brightness is not really needed and vice-versa. Dimmer switches are preferred over the conventional switches because dimmer switches give us the flexibility to adjust the intensity of the fixtures as per the need, whether you want working or entertainment ambiance.
